It's a wonderful image, a new family enjoying life. The 'new normal' of work life balance and reduced commuting has really changed things for the family unit, with countless employees who were tied to their desks considering what's actually best for them and their family. There has been a big shift in employee expectations in terms of 'the rights for leave' so it's no surprise that business leaders still worry over maternity and parental leave, which together with all other forms of temporary absence, can disrupt a business and it's processes. But this shouldn't be the case.

The best businesses understand the need for employee flexibility and the benefits it brings - the main one being loyalty! Many companies have switched to four day weeks after trials showed no detriment to client service and much enhanced employee satisfaction.

This flexibility should also extend to planning for absence, be it maternity, paternity, adoption, medical or anything else that life throws at us. The bigger the business of course, the easier it is to cope and adjust a team structure or bring in temporary resource.

But SMEs? They don't necessarily have the capacity in people time or budget to achieve a smooth transition to cover for absence. We've had a few conversations with smaller food businesses on maternity leave cover particularly and realise that actually, outsourcing your marketing resource on a temporary basis has a lot of benefits.

Our Marketing Subscription Service is a perfect solution to covering any leave in your marketing team. You pay a small monthly payment, off payroll, and we act as your marketing manager for as long as you want. Is your new mum returning earlier than you thought? No problem, we can finish our service earlier. Don't have the cash for another full time role? Our subscription payments typically equate to only a third of a full time head.

So there is no need to panic. You can support your employees when they need to take time off for the important stuff in life, and we can support your marketing resource until they return.
